Chapter Seven
All through the night, I wake thinking about what happened between Gabe and me. He was tender and gentle. Patient and caring. Who would have known by looking at him? I just know is he is one kick-ass dude.
The alarm goes off, and I take a last whiff of his cologne on my body before showering. I grab coffee and walk out for work. Iâm glad weâre pretty busy, because it makes the time pass by faster. Around five in the afternoon, I feel my cell vibrating. Another hour passes, and Iâm off work. I pull out the phone and read the text message.
âStill on for tonight with the tatt? ~Gâ
I answer. âDefinitely dude.â
âExcellent, need me to stop and get anything?~Gâ
âNope, just bring yourself.â
âU bet. Wait, U flirting E?~Gâ
âDepends, is it working?â
âFuck yeah.~Gâ
âHaha. Good.â
Iâm excited to be joking with him like this. The anticipation of seeing him has me psyched the hell up right now. Iâll be lucky if I donât wreck my bike on the way home. Iâve thought about him all day and wondered if Iâd even crossed his mindâ¦I guess I must have.
I get home, shower and shave, and call John. I just explain that Iâm sick and wonât be going bar-hopping this weekend with the guys. He understands and wishes me well.
At midnight, a text comes through my phone.
âStill awake? ~Gâ
âYep.â
âOK, about to be on my way. ~Gâ
âGood.â
âFeeling all dare-devil huh? ~Gâ
âA little.â
âLove a man with a cocky attitude. ~Gâ
I just smile and set the phone down. The fact is, Iâm looking forward to two rushes tonight. One is with Gabe and the other is getting started on the tattoo. About twenty minutes later I hear him knock on the door.
âCome on in, nice to see you.â I reach my hand out to shake his. âYou can put your stuff wherever you like. I wasnât sure where you wanted to do this. You want a beer or anything?â
âYeah, thanks. Okay...to do this, I need you up a little higher than the floor, so where should we do it?â
âThe only thing I have that would support me is my couch...or my bed.â
âThe bed works. That way itâs more comfortable for you, and Iâll have more room.â
âFollow me.â
I walk down the hall and flip the switch to the bedroom. He sets up his equipment, brings out the stencils and the drawing. He looks at me, a smile playing around the corners of his mouth.
âYou ready?â
âHell yes, letâs do it.â
âTake your clothes off and lie on your right side, so I can get to that left side and draw this out. I think itâll be best if we do it in segments. Itâs going to hurt like a mother fucker.â
âLetâs see how I take it, and decide from there.â I tell him.
I take off my shorts and drop them to the floor. Gabe stares at me for a minute, before catching his snap, then he smiles again.
âWhat?â I ask him.
âJust remembering last night is all.â He raises an eyebrow at me, and licks his lips.
